My Journey to Coaching
After 34 years in corporate leadership roles with a global Fortune 500 company, I understand both ends of that spectrum. I held multiple management positions in finance and supply chain and weathered nine major reorganizations. Each one challenged me to build new relationships, develop fresh skills, and reinvent myself. Over time, I developed a deep resilience to uncertainty and change.
Our company had a strong overarching culture, but each department had its own unique microculture. I learned how to adapt quickly, join new teams, and thrive in unfamiliar environments. That taught me how to read the room and help others do the same.
Throughout my career, I coached many teams and found joy in watching people grow. One employee once told me, “I didn’t realize you were coaching me until you weren’t there anymore.” That moment sparked something in me. I realized coaching had always been part of my leadership style, and I wanted to do it with intention.
I was fortunate to learn from some of the best managers, leaders who cared deeply about the work, but even more about the people doing it. They were mentors, teachers, friends, and trusted advisors. I strive to help others become that kind of leader.
My father was one of my earliest role models. He graduated from Harvard while serving in the Navy balancing a full course load with football, track, and military duties. Later, he earned an MBA from NYU while raising eight children. When I started my first “real” job, he gave me advice I carried throughout my career:
“Nancy, always work to make your manager look good. Back them up and give them what they need. If they succeed, the team succeeds.”
That advice proved true especially when working for managers who motivated, supported, and recognized their people. I want the leaders I coach to become those kinds of managers - the ones employees rally around.
Since retiring, I’ve become a leadership coach to share what I’ve learned and help others unlock their potential. I support clients in overcoming stress, breaking through stagnation, and aligning their work with their values. My experience spans global teams, organizational change, mergers, and technology transformations.
